MeadTools v4.0
MeadTools 4.0 is a major release centered on brew tracking. This update turns recipes into a fuller brewing workflow, with stage-by-stage tracking, richer brew history, charts, and polish across the tools that support planning, fermentation, and packaging.
New Brew Tracking Workflow
Stage-Based Brew Management
Brews now move through a clearer lifecycle, with dedicated workflows for each major stage.
- Planned brews can be created and prepared before fermentation starts
- Primary fermentation has a focused stage panel for recording key events
- Secondary, bulk aging, packaged, and complete stages now have their own workflows
- Brews can be explicitly marked complete when the work is finished
Brew Entries and Timeline Improvements
Brew history is easier to review and maintain.
- Timeline entries are clearer and more consistent
- Nutrient additions and brew entries can be refined after they are created
- Original gravity, yeast, volume, and other key brew events are better represented
- Gravity readings can be recorded and displayed in either SG or Brix
- Brew activity is easier to scan across the account brew pages
Brew Charts
Brew logs and device logs now include charting support.
- Review brew progress visually over time
- Compare fermentation activity with recorded brew events
- Hydrometer-related brew views have been updated to support the new charting experience
Calculator and Recipe Updates
Bottling Calculator
The bottling calculator has been updated as part of the 4.0 release.
- Bottle planning is now integrated with the broader tool polish in this release
- Layout and behavior have been tightened for a smoother calculator experience
Public Recipe Search
Public recipe search now keeps the search input and results in sync more reliably.
- Search text behaves more predictably
- Result updates better match what is shown in the input
Public Brew Sharing
Brewers can now share selected brew trackers from their public recipes.
- Brews remain private by default and can only be published when their recipe is public
- Public recipe pages link to published brews with their stage history, notes, metrics, and charts
- Account brew pages include a share action that uses the public recipe-scoped link
- Shared brew trackers are read-only and retain the familiar account tracker layout
More Improvements
- Brew lists can be filtered by stage and status
- Brews can be deleted from the account brew list with confirmation
- Brew-tracking dialogs fit and behave better on mobile screens
- Dialogs now layer correctly over the navigation bar
- ABV calculations now handle original gravity entered in Brix correctly
- Brew data handling is more resilient across the new workflow
- OpenAPI documentation now covers the expanded brew model, admin endpoints, and public recipe brew routes
Admin Updates
The admin area has been refreshed to match the rest of MeadTools more closely.
- A new admin overview links to users, brews, recipes, and catalog data
- Admins can review complete brew trackers and private recipes without mutation controls
- Admin tables, search, pagination, navigation, and responsive layouts are more consistent
- User administration can send password reset links directly from the user editor
- Admin access is available from the account menu for administrators
- Ingredient and yeast creation now recovers from stale database ID sequences
UI Polish and Reliability
This release includes a broad polish pass across the new brew tracking surfaces.
- Brew dashboards and detail pages have cleaner layouts
- Stage panels share more consistent patterns
- Account navigation better reflects the available brew tools
- Seed data has been updated for the expanded brew model
Looking Ahead
MeadTools 4.0 lays the foundation for deeper brew tracking and better recipe-to-brew workflows. The focus for this release is getting the core brewing lifecycle into the app in a way that is useful today and ready to grow from here.
